Used Guitar Amps
There is no shortage of good, used guitar amps on the market these days. The good
news is there are plenty of them out there. The bad news is it will take you forever to try them all out. While a
good, used guitar amplifier is not hard to locate, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. After all, it
is your money, and you want to make sure the money you are saving over a new model gets you the appropriate amp for
you.
You want to make sure that the amp you're going to buy
works well with the instrument you're going to use it with. Just as every guitar has its own sound or tone, so does
every amp model. While you can simply plug your guitar into any amp and get an amplified sound, you want an amp
specifically made for a guitar. Do your homework, because you don't want to wind up buying a bass amp or keyboard
amp.
You'll discover that used guitar amps can be found for a
great price. There are numerous people that thought that learning to play a guitar was for them. They went out and
bought all kinds of new equipment which included an expensive amplifier that the music store sales person talked
them into purchasing. Then, as it happens often, the person finds that playing the guitar is not as easy as it
seemed and they quit playing. This person eventually sells all of the equipment at a bargain
price.
A pawn shop is another place to find used guitar amps.
This is one of the first places a person will look to unload that amp that never gets used and cost them a fortune
in the first place. Visit a local pawn shop and take your time sifting through all the amps, for your patience will
pay off when you find that one gem. If you don't find one to suit your needs, don't hesitate to visit another pawn
shop.
Another good source of used guitar amps is a music
store. They are known for buying back those expensive, barely used amps from the same person they sold it to
earlier for a huge discount. They will still try to sell it close to the original price when it was new, but with
some serious negotiations you can wind up with it at a good price. Plus, the amp is usually in mint condition
because the previous owner threw in the towel early on trying to learn how to play a guitar.
Lastly, in your search for used guitar amps, don't
forget about the internet. There are numerous sites, such as CraigsList and others with plenty of sellers. Auction
sites such as Ebay are also a good place to look. The possibilities on the web are endless. The only drawback is
you cannot test the amp or actually see it. So, be careful if you decide to take this route.
